BEST MONTHS FOR WILDEBEEST MIGRATION

JAN TO MARCH
CALVING AND BIRTHING SEASON
The wildebeest migration is known to start in Jan all the way to Jan every year. During this period, a lot of events unfold and so much happens within the migratory routes and wildebeests’ lives. From January to March, it’s known to be the start of life, when almost 8000 wildebeests are born and a lot of scenes are witnessed during this time of the birth season. Wildebeest calving season happens in South of Serengeti National Park, and in Ndutu Conservation Area. During February, that’s when a lot of births are seen. This is the best time to spot wildebeest calving and a lot of big cats hunting in the Ndutu Conservation Area. Our Jan to April Safaris ensures you get the whole event and create amazing memories here.

APRIL TO JUNE
MIGRATION AND FOLLOWING THE RAIN
From April to June, the wildebeests navigate between Serengeti South and Serengeti North. They move through Seronera, Central Serengeti, and the Grumeti region all within the Serengeti National Park. The rain pattern is so definite as they are aware of when next it falls, and hence they move so fast in order to catch the early sprouting grass. After leaving Ndutu, during the long rains of Feb to April, the next fall will be June and July. This brings in the best season for the crossings in July all the way to October. As the wildebeest move towards the north, we are busy planning and scheduling your safari so as not to miss the best part of the whole event.

JULY TO OCTOBER
CROSSINGS WITNESSED IN MARA AND SERENGETI
This season falls in the peak season when the rainy season starts in June and extends to July. As the month of August kicks in, the grasses are green and the plains are lush, colorful, and attractive. Wildlife are vibrant, and so are the wildebeests as they enter the Northern region of Serengeti and Masai Mara National Reserve. This is the best season to witness the great wildebeest crossings over the greater mara rivers. The events are so aggressive making the whole scene just remarkable and a lifetime memory. During your safaris with us, you will Witness wildebeest jump over the high cliffs of Mara rivers both in Kenya and Tanzania. Wildebeest do mate a lot this season in Masai mara and later on Jan and Feb, they give birth.

NOVEMBER TO DECEMBER
HEARD HEAD OFF BACK TO S. SERENGETI
After a busy and dangerous maneuver in these infested ecosystems, wildebeest now starts to move down south to Serengeti North and later down to South Serengeti.
