Tour Plan

Upon arriving at the Kilimanjaro Airport you will be picked up by your private driver guide and shall be transferred by road to Amini Maasai Lodge where you will spend the following days at this exotic place getting to learn about the Maasai and their way of living.

You will dive right into the authentic life with the Maasai, but before going out for the activities, you will enjoy some freshly prepared lunch. Have a cup of coffee or tea and take your time to settle down at the lodge soaking up the atmosphere.

In the afternoon, you compete against the Maasai in a spear-throwing competition. Try to beat your rivals while getting taught by experienced Maasai. It looks very easy to throw a spear towards an imaginary lion. However, it takes a great amount of skills to actually hit one.

An herbalist will accompany you on a serene walk through the hills of the surrounding area and will introduce you to the Maasai's medicinal plants. It will be a relaxing change to the athletic event.

After an eventful day, enjoy a sundowner on the veranda at the health spa or on one of the surrounding hills. Stand in awe when the sun sets over Kilimanjaro and become one with nature, just like Hemingway described it not so long ago. An exclusive dinner in our restaurant is ready to be served afterward.

On day two, you will have a breakfast at the lodge before setting off to visit the Maasai Vision English Primary School. At the school you will have the unique possibility to get in touch with local children and teachers and will get an impression of how the young Maasai live.

After a comfortable picnic, get ready to climb Ol Doinyo Landaree in Mukuru. The mountain is sacred in Maasai mythology. In the evening, you return to the lodge just in time to experience once more the delightful sunset over Africa's highest mountain, with its peak covered in snow.

On the last day, you can enjoy the spa area after breakfast. Take your time for a well-earned rest and enjoy the slower pace of life. Relax in the eco-sauna and refresh yourself in the natural swimming pool before preparing for the homeward journey.

During your entire stay at the lodge, you will have the chance to talk to your hosts at the regular evening campfire, who will tell you about their lives and experiences in the country.

After a freshly prepared lunch, you will check out from the Maasai Lodge and drive back to Arusha. Enjoy the ride arriving at your lodge in Arusha for dinner and overnight.

For those going back home today, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport for your international flight.

At around 08:30 we leave Arusha town and drive for five hours to Lake Eyasi. We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge. Lake Eyasi is a very scenic soda lake found on the southern border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This less visited lake lies at the base of the Eyasi escarpment on the western rift valley wall. This afternoon you will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter-gatherer bushmen). The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe. You will visit these tribes, which will include a visit to their homesteads, learning about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Some wildlife and a wide range of bird species can be viewed during walks around the lake, which can be arranged.

This cultural day takes you to the heart of several unique tribes in the world. Hadzabe live around Lake Eyasi south of ngorongoro conservation in northern Tanzania. Hadzabe or Tindiga are the last remaining ancestors of the original hunter and gatherer ethnic who first inhabited Tanzania. They're skilled hunters and they use several methods to attract wild animals and birds.

Visit Hadzabe community to explore their local ways of life, participate in hunting collecting fruits and wild honey gathering. Also practice local skills of using Bow and Arrow during hunting activities. In the afternoon, meet the nomadic tribe Datoga. Visiting the Datoga tribe will complete your cultural experience at Lake Eyasi. The Datoga are skilled craftsmen and blacksmiths. You can visit their habitat and experience their culture. Be prepared for the experience of a lifetime!

After breakfast you will depart from Lake Eyasi and shall be driven back to Arusha enroute the famous Mto wa Mbu town where you can stop for souvenir shopping and lunch. Enjoy a last minute drive through the Northern Tanzanian highlands driving past villages and sub-urbans. In Mto wa Mbu or anywhere else along the way, you will have the chance to do some shopping for souvenirs, Maasai art, and post cards from the local markets and shops. Our guides are there to assist you in finding the best items. You will arrive back in Arusha and depending on your schedule you will either be driven directly to the Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight back home or you will head to your hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight.
